Bang Kruai District and EGAT unveil “EM Krathong Sai” at international seminar

Bang Kruai District and EGAT welcomed over 120 international artists from nine countries under an international academic seminar on “Role of Artists in Energy and Environmental Conservation.” The artists visited the EGAT Learning Center – Headquarters to exchange insights on folk arts and culture and witness the launch of EM Krathong Sai, a waste-reducing innovation of Nonthaburi Province.

On November 15, 2024, Acting Sub. Lieutenant Yutthaphum Chabchit, Bang Kruai District Chief, presided over the opening ceremony of the international academic seminar on the topic “Role of Artists in Energy and Environmental Conservation,” together with Mr. Chaiyot Hanamorn, Director of Project Community Relations Division of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT); Ms. Tatiya Sakornpan, EGAT Assistant Director of Corporate Communication and Public Relations Division; and Prof. Dr. Atchara Panurat, President of  Surin Cultural Heritage Promotion Foundation. The event was attended by over 120 artists from nine countries, which were Turkey, Sri Lanka, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the United States, Nepal, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand at EGAT Learning Center – Headquarters, Nonthaburi Province.

Acting Sub. Lieutenant Yutthaphum Chabchit, Bang Kruai District Chief, said that the District has presented the innovation of EM Krathong Sai to enhance the environmental conservation in waterways. This activity aims to promote the Loy Krathong Festival; reduce waste; take care of the environment, rivers, and canals; and promote the tourism destination in the areas along three canals of Nonthaburi to an international stage. It is grateful that EGAT, Surin Cultural Heritage Promotion Foundation, International Folk Arts and Culture Foundation, and Thai Community Environmental Conservation Association jointly organized this seminar as a platform for international folk art and culture exchange.

EGAT Director of Project Community Relations Division delivered a welcoming remark that EGAT has committed to ensuring energy security while giving importance to the environment and biodiversity from power generation, power grid, to supporting systems throughout the value chain. EGAT also makes the most of resource deployment, increases the share of renewable energy for greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and encourages waste recycling.

President of Surin Cultural Heritage Promotion Foundation said that the Surin Cultural Heritage Promotion Foundation and the International Folk Arts and Culture Foundation have their committees and members from 30 countries to revive international folk arts and culture that integrate residences, temples, and schools since their establishment in 2001. The event hosting duty is rotated among member countries. For this year, the Thai Community Environmental Conservation Association of Nonthaburi Province was invited to attend the event held on Loy Krathong Day to promote the eco-innovation of EM Krathong Sai.

At the event, an Honor Plaque of “World Peace Declarer” was bestowed on EGAT for its role in promoting clean energy and environmental conservation. Moreover, the innovation, EM Krathong Sai, was presented to conserve three waterways of Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province. The participants concluded the event by exploring the exhibition in EGAT Learning Center – Headquarters.
