Get ready for 33rd Mae Moh Half Marathon this October 25
27 July 2026The 33rd Mae Moh Half Marathon, one of Thailand’s premier running events, is now open for registration for runners from around the world. Join the race and experience the breathtaking scenery of the power plant, reservoirs, and limestone mountains along the only World Athletics-certified course in Northern Thailand.
On July 24, 2026, Mr. Pakorn Kannawanlee, Deputy Governor of Lampang Province, together with Mr. Phitsanupol Prasan, Deputy President of the Lampang Provincial Administrative Organization; Mr. Suchart Tunkaew, Assistant Governor – Mae Moh Mine, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT); Mr. Peerarak Pitchayakul, Chairman of the Lampang Chamber of Commerce; and Mr. Chatree Saechueng, representative of the Thai Mass Participation Sports Trade Association, joined the press conference of the 33rd Mae Moh Half Marathon 2026 under the theme “Power Your Run” at EGAT Mae Moh, Mae Moh District, Lampang Province.
Mr. Pakorn Kannawanlee, Deputy Governor of Lampang Province, said that the Mae Moh Half Marathon is the largest and oldest running event of Lampang Province and the northern region. First held in 1992, the event has attracted runners from Thailand and around the world. The half marathon course has been the first in Northern Thailand to hold the World Athletics Road Race Label since 2024. All parties have made thorough preparations to ensure the event upholds the pride of the people of Lampang and the running community while contributing to raising Thailand’s running race standards to the international level.
Mr. Phitsanupol Prasan, Deputy President of the Lampang Provincial Administrative Organization, highlighted the importance of sports tourism as it effectively combines sports and travel while helping stimulate the local economy through participation in competitions and tourism activities connected to race routes. Most importantly, it encourages people to exercise, promotes a healthy lifestyle, and contributes to the continued development of people and the nation.
Mr. Suchart Tunkaew, EGAT Assistant Governor – Mae Moh Mine, said that the Mae Moh Half Marathon will be held on October 25, 2026, with registration now open. Currently, 3,253 runners have registered across three categories: Half Marathon (21.1 km) with 1,175 runners, Mini Marathon (10 km) with 1,336 runners, and Fun Run (5 km) with 742 runners. All routes offer runners a unique experience through the scenic surroundings of Mae Moh Power Plant, Mae Moh Mine, reservoirs, and limestone mountains. The event can accommodate up to 5,000 runners and the registration will remain open until August 31, 2026.
Mr. Peerarak Pitchayakul, Chairman of the Lampang Chamber of Commerce, said that after deducting expenses, proceeds from race registration fees, merchandise sales, and sponsorship support will be used to develop Lampang Province through the “Lampang Sustainable Development Foundation,” which is currently being established through collaboration among the Chamber of Commerce, EGAT Mae Moh, and network partners. The foundation aims to drive Lampang’s development in economic, energy, and human dimensions, including supporting a just energy transition, attracting large-scale investments to create jobs and long-term economic value, strengthening SMEs through innovation and the creative economy, and promoting knowledge and skills development while establishing sustainable knowledge transfer to future generations
Mr. Chatree Saechueng, Deputy Secretary-General of the Thai Mass Participation Sports Trade Association, said that the Mae Moh Half Marathon is more than just a running event. It is one of the most recognized and anticipated regional races in Northern Thailand and has a strong base of returning runners. The World Athletics Road Race Label certification for the 21.1 km half marathon course enhances the event’s credibility among sponsors, helping it reach a wider running community and support sustainable growth in the Northern market. The race routes combine natural scenery with a unique “Destination Run” experience, creating more economic and tourism value. In addition, results from the certified 21.1 km race can be used for applications to international competitions that require results from World Athletics-certified events.
