Assistance to affected people to be evacuated from the construction site
In the evacuation of affected people from the construction site of Nam Pung Dam, EGAT paid the compensation for land, building, trees, and moving out of the former place. New land was allocated for organized housing and workplace with better quality of living. Moreover, the replacement of public properties and utilities such as temples, schools, health center, roads, and waterworks was provided by EGAT taking into account fairness and benefits of the local people.

Hydropower generation
The purpose of Nam Pung Dam construction is to generate electricity of an average of 17 million kWh per year to enhance the efficiency of electricity distribution of the region.

Flood protection
The reservoir will help to detain a large volume of water in the flooding season.

Irrigation
In the dry season, water in the reservoir will be discharged into the planting areas in Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom Provinces.

Nam Pung Dam also serves as a beautiful tourist attraction.
