North Bangkok Power Plant
Characteristics of the Power Plant
North Bangkok Power Plant is a combined cycle power plant which has contractual generating capacity of 1,498 MW using natural gas as primary fuel.
Block 1
Type | Multi shaft combined cycle power plant |
Number of gas turbines | 2 |
Number of steam turbines | 1 |
Amount of daily demand of gas | 125 million ft3 |
Contractual generating capacity | 670 MW |
Block 2
Type | Single shaft combined cycle power plant |
Number of gas turbines | 2 |
Number of steam turbines | 2 |
Amount of daily demand of gas | 144million ft3 |
Contractual generating capacity | 828 MW |
Both blocks are operated by the heat from the gas ignition in the gas turbine as energy source which is connected with the generator using hot air from the gas turbine as energy source in producing steam at the Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) to drive the steam turbine to generate electricity. The steam which has been used at the steam turbine will become water to be reused in steam production by the condenser using water from the Chao Phraya River as cooling water before passing through the cooling tower for temperature reduction.
