Power Plant Development Projects
EGAT’s new power plant development projects according to the Power Development Plan 2018-2037, Revision 1 (PDP2018 Rev.1) are as follows:
1. Thermal Power Plants
EGAT has developed thermal power plants in accordance with PDP2018 Rev.1 since 2018. The projects approved by the Cabinet and in the approval process are as follows:

2. Hydropower Plants Downstream of Irrigation Dams
EGAT has developed hydropower plants downstream of irrigation dams with Royal Irrigation Department since 2007. Ten projects have been completed and are in commercial operation. On June 18, 2024, the Cabinet approved the construction of the following four projects:

3. Renewable Power Plants
A key project in 2024 was the 24 MW Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid at Ubol Ratana Dam, Khon Kaen Province operated with the Energy Management System (EMS) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to enhance continuous and efficient electricity generation. The Cabinet approved the project on March 14, 2023. It started the commercial operation on March 5, 2024.
EGAT plans to implement additional floating solar projects with a total capacity of 2,656 MW, which have been approved by EGAT Board of Directors and are in approval process of the Cabinet as follows:

3.3 Mae Moh Solar Farm Project, Phase 1, Lampang Province
The objective of Mae Moh Solar Farm Project with a contracted capacity of 38.5 MW is to reduce the use of power supplied from the transmission system of Mae Moh Mine, increase the proportion of renewable energy in EGAT’s electricity generation, and support Carbon Neutrality policy. The project is not intended for commercial purposes. It is scheduled to supply electricity to Mae Moh mining system by the end of 2025.
