Air quality

To prevent and minimize air pollution, the power plant has installed equipment to control the emissions to be within the standard for continuous and occasional air quality monitoring and conducted occasional inspection as follows:

• Water injection into the burner to control air pollution
• Installation of Dry Low NO_x Burner to reduce the nitrogen oxide
• Control of the emissions rate to be according to the standard
• Installation of Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) at the stack of the power plant to inspect the emissions all the time during the operation
• Measurement of Nitrogen Oxide, Sulfur Dioxide, and particulate matter in the emissions from the stack and compare with the standard value as enforced by the law and specified in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report
• Installation of screens for displaying Nitrogen Oxide and Oxygen at the entrance of the power plant and in front of the combined cycle power plant, Block 3 on the Chao Phraya riverside for public information
• Water spraying on the road in the construction site of replacement power plant and the roads around the whole power plant to reduce dust

Noise

To prevent and control the noise to be within the limit, the power plant has installed an equipment to lower the noise at the source as well as to maintain the equipment regularly as follows:

• Providing the place with noise exceeding 80 dBA with a notice or warning symbol
• Specifying the noisy place and providing a warning for operators in the place to wear hearing protection device for safety
• Installation of silencer at the end of the pressure relief pipe of the boiler
• Specifying the distance of 1 m for noisy machinery and equipment with noise not exceeding 85 dBA

Water quality

The power plant uses water with the maximum efficiency in preventing water pollution and maintaining water quality to be within the standard limit.

• Treatment of all wastewater in the power plant
• Installation of the equipment to measure the temperature of the cooling water before discharging into the Chao Phraya River
• Treatment of wastewater used in washing the machinery which is contaminated with lubricant by passing through the grease trap to separate grease from water before transferring to the cesspool
• After treatment, the wastewater will be kept in the cesspool for reuse in the power plant such as plant watering, lawn watering, and road cleaning, etc.
• Inspection of the water quality at different points such as at Bang Fai Canal, Bang Prong Canal, and Chao Phraya River in the northern and southern parts of the discharging point of the cooling water to control the quality of wastewater to be within the limit

Aquatic ecosystem

The power plant has a project of aquatic animal and water source conservation which obtains participation of community around the power plant to develop and maintain the fertility of aquatic ecosystem.

• Installation of screens with different sizes at the pumping point to reduce the number of lives which can be sucked into the cooling system
• Participation with the community in the ecosystem conservation activities such as garbage collecting in the canals, mangrove reforestation in the public place such as along the canal and Chao Phraya River and degraded forest, releasing local fish and aquatic animals into Bang Fai Canal and Bang Prong Canal

Waste management

The power plant has conducted waste management which is based on technical principles and complies with the law.

• Sorting waste from office buildings and collecting in closed container which is in hygienic condition to be collected for disposal by authorized agency contracted by the power plant
• Garbage, unused materials, and waste from production process such as deteriorated resin residue from the production system of demineralized water, used lubricant or grease from the grease trap will be separated according to its type and are kept in appropriate container
• When they are collected in an appropriate amount, the officially authorized agency will be notified for collection for disposal.
• Information of the amount, type, transportation, and disposal of waste is collected continuously in accordance with the official standards and law.
