‘Mae Moh Smart City’ receives the Smart City Thailand logo

         EGAT received the Smart City Thailand logo for the ‘Mae Moh Smart City’ project under the ‘Existing Smart City’ category, reflecting its determination to develop the energy sector, economy, and environment.

         On December 24, 2021, Mr. Charan Khumngeon, Assistant Governor – Generation 2 of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) received the Smart City Thailand logo under the ‘Existing Smart City’ category for the ‘Mae Moh Smart City’ project from General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Smart City Committee at the Smart City Thailand Awarding Ceremony held by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) at Phakdi Bodin Building, Government House.

         Mr. Charan Khumngeon, EGAT Assistant Governor – Generation 2 revealed that the ‘Mae Moh Smart City’ project in Lampang Province gave importance to the collaboration among EGAT, the Mae Moh District community, and related agencies in order to develop and support the community to be self-reliant in the long-term, as well as to develop the energy sector, economy, society, and environment to be suitable for sustainable living after the decommission of the Mae Moh Mine and Power Plant in 2051 through three dimensions, namely Smart Energy, Smart Economy, and Smart Environment.

         The ‘Mae Moh Smart City’ project was 1 of 15 cities which received the Smart City Thailand logo under the ‘Existing Smart City’ category. Moreover, the project is a part of the plan to develop Lampang Province into Lampang Smart City by using various technologies and innovations to boost the economic growth and quality of life of the people while also spreading the progress into the northern region.
