Krisana Kraisintu Foundation, EGAT, and allies push ahead with the production of high-quality herbal medicine under the “Langkasuka” model which covers mobile herbal medicine processing. EGAT has recently provided four mobile units to Chanae Hospital, Narathiwat Province, for producing herbal medicine and controling its quality on-site, which can reduce costs, generate income, and raise the quality of life of the locals in the three southern provinces. The model will be expanded to other areas in the country.

On June 2, 2022, Dr. Jiraporn Sirikum, Deputy Governor – Strategy, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), presided over a ceremony to deliver the herbal medicine processing and quality controling mobile units to the Director of Chanae Hospital. The Langkasuka model uses local herbs to produce high-quality medicine. The local herbs can provide high medicinal substances, due to the fertile soil and clean water in the area. As preserving quality and freshness of herbs is a key for the production, these four mobile units will support the production of the herbal medicines that meet Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). In the future, the foundation and EGAT will expand the model to other regions for the better health of Thais.

EGAT Deputy Governor – Strategy said that the Langkasuka model enables access to quality medicine and public-health services and generates careers for the locals through public participation. In line with EGAT’s determination to take care of society, community, and environment; EGAT and allies, therefore, collaborate with the Foundation from the beginning to provide a budget, develop herb quality control vehicles and towing vehicles, and promote organic herb cultivation in the three southern provinces and EGAT’s nearby communities. Specifically, due to the efficacy of Green chiretta to ease the symptoms of COVID-19, this cooperation will be beneficial for the locals to have basic medicine for self-care and raise their quality of life. In the future, it will be an opportunity to develop premium products and a social enterprise that sustainably ensure social and environmental solutions.
