Three power utilities improve transmission system and set up cyber security working group

EGAT, MEA, and PEA organized the on-site 51st meeting of Power System Reliability Improvement Committee, focusing on the development of generation and transmission technologies in response to the renewable energy trend and the energy conservation promotion to tackle the energy crisis.

Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), and Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) organized the 51st meeting of Power System Reliability Improvement Committee, which Mr. Kitti Petchsanthad, EGAT Deputy Governor – Transmission System and Chairman of the Committee; Mr. Pipat Cholumpai, MEA Deputy Governor on Distribution System Service; Mr. Pramote Sudsap, PEA Deputy Governor on Operation and Maintenance; committees; and relevant officers of the three utilities attended on June 20, 2022, at EGAT Headquarters, Nonthaburi Province.

Mr. Kitti Petchsanthad, Chairman of the Committee, said that the Power System Reliability Improvement Committee organized this meeting to follow up on the progress of implementations to improve efficiency for higher reliability of power system, including the 2022 plan of gas supply disruption and power system management, grid modernization, and energy conservation promotion. In the meeting, the establishment of a working group for cyber security of operating system is proposed to study and exchange the data on the transmission system development, in response to the transformation of power technology and the current trend of power consumption.

The Power System Reliability Improvement Committee consists of 7 working groups, which are Preventive System Improvement, Equipment Standard and Maintenance, Power System Reliability Assessment, Public Relations, Power Quality Control, Telecommunication, and Smart Grid System Working Groups, to ensure the quality, security, safety, and reliability of electric power system.
