EGAT wins 5 SOE Awards 2023, reflecting its position as leading energy state enterprise that supports Thailand’s global competitiveness

EGAT won five Outstanding State-owned Enterprise Awards 2023, reflecting its dedication to enhancing energy security toward a carbon-free society, to increase the country’s competitiveness in global stage coupled with its efforts to create innovations for the improvement of quality of life, society, and environment.    

On January 31, 2024, Mr. Krisada Chinavicharana, Deputy Minister of Finance, presided over the awarding ceremony of State-owned Enterprise (SOE) Awards 2023 organized by State Enterprise Policy Office under the theme “Enhancing Thainess Towards Global Opportunities.” On this occasion, Associate Professor Kulyos Audomvongseree, Former Director of EGAT Board of Directors; Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Former Governor of EGAT; Dr. Jiraporn Sirikum, Deputy Governor – Power Business and Acting Governor of EGAT; and EGAT senior executives received the awards at Santi Maitree Building, Government House.

Dr. Jiraporn Sirikum, Deputy Governor – Power Business and Acting Governor of EGAT, said that all of the five SOE awards received are considered prestigious honors. Moreover, it is the first year that EGAT has won the outstanding awards in the categories of State Enterprise’s Board of Directors and Organizational Leadership. The awards reflect EGAT’s commitment to corporate governance and management on a global scale, aiming to enhance energy security in response to global trend, increase the country’s competitiveness in the global stage, and improve the society, community, and environment. The SOE awards EGAT received in 2023 are as follows:

   

1. Outstanding Board of Directors of State Enterprise Award for the EGAT Board of Directors that plays an important role in driving the organization to achieve the goals

2. Outstanding Organizational Leadership Award presented to Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Former Governor of EGAT, for his visionary leadership in upgrading organizational management to a comprehensive energy service provider

3. Sustainable State Enterprise Development Award which reflects the commitment to driving the organization toward sustainability in economic, social, and environmental dimensions

4. Outstanding Social and Environmental Operation Award for “Bang Pakong Model Project” which applies the royal philosophy and sufficiency economy principles to create sustainable livelihoods, increase income, and restore the ecosystem of Bang Pakong River

5. Outstanding Creativity and Innovation Award: Innovation Category (Honorable Mention) for “Development of Wall and Boiler Cleaning System with Automatic High-Pressure Water Jet: Phase 2″ of Mae Moh Power Plant, Lampang Province. This innovation involves the development of a high-pressure water jet with precise movement and heat resistance. It can reduce production cost up to 50% compared to imported alternatives and significantly enhance efficiency of electricity generation.
