EGAT showcases energy innovations, reinforcing its role as a regional power system hub at Thailand Inventors’ Day 2024

5 February 2024

EGAT showcases the “automatic cross-country electricity system analysis and command system through public internet network and IOT,” a system to enhance power system security and reinforce EGAT’s readiness to be the regional power system hub, along with six energy innovations at Inventors’ Day during February 2-6 to drive Thailand toward a sustainable future. Meanwhile, EGAT has nominated eight highlight innovations to compete at the IPITEx 2024 in which Thailand is the host.

On February 2, 2024, Mr. Warit Rattanachuen, Assistant Governor – Research, Innovation and Business Development of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) led the team of EGAT inventors to present their achievements at the Thailand Inventors’ Day 2024 held by National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) at Event Hall 100-102, Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC). Government and private agencies, researchers, as well as Thai and international inventors attended the event.

Mr. Warit Rattanachuen, EGAT Assistant Governor – Research, Innovation and Business Development, said that research and innovation development is an important factor of energy transition which helps promote and advance economic value for the society and country to help drive Thailand toward a sustainable future. In the past, EGAT has prioritized research and innovation development and has improved electricity generation and transmission coupled with maintaining the stability and security of the power system of the country.

During the event, EGAT showcased six innovations which received awards from domestic and international stages in order to share practical knowledge as well as inspire the participants to realize the importance of inventions and innovations for the development of the country. The innovations showcased are as follows: 1) Automatic cross-country electricity system analysis and command system through public internet network and IOT which controls cross-country electricity transmission. Due to some parts of Thailand’s transmission system being connected to Lao PDR, this system will help prevent widespread blackouts and build power system security for both countries, 2) Equipment for climbing up and down high places for lineworkers which is ready to be further developed for transmission systems in neighboring countries, 3) ENZY One Platform which provides maximum efficiency at places with electricity use and will also be tested in neighboring countries, 4) EGAT EV Business Solutions which fully supports the growing EV market comprising the EleX by EGAT EV charging station, the application: EleXA, and the BackEN EV system for those with network EV charging stations in neighboring countries, 5) Water Solution Drone which automatically inspects the water quality using a drone, and 6) Fire monitoring system through image processing.

Moreover, EGAT nominated eight innovations which won awards from international competitions in 2023 to compete in the 2024 Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEx 2024) hosted by Thailand, such as the air purifier tower prototype for communities using plasma technique, small 100 kW hydropower generator with rotation speed adjuster (prototype), coal conveyer joint tester, and slide pump set.

Those interested in attending the event can visit Thailand Inventors’ Day 2024 from February 2-6, 2024 at Event Hall 100-102, Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC).
