TINT, EGAT, and partners establish “HOTNET” to unite experts, exchange knowledge, and advance Thailand’s nuclear technology for a clean energy future
28 August 2026TINT and EGAT, together with 13 organizations from the public, education, and industrial sectors, signed an MOU to establish the Hub of Talents for Nuclear Energy Technology (HOTNET), building a collaborative network for nuclear technology in Thailand to develop human resources, exchange knowledge, and promote Thai youth on the international stage.
The Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (Public Organization), or TINT, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), along with 13 organizations from the public, education, and industrial sectors, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish the Hub of Talents for Nuclear Energy Technology (HOTNET). Mr. Siriwat Chedsi, EGAT’s Deputy Governor – Power Plant Development and Renewable Energy, signed the MOU on behalf of EGAT. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Director of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tawatchai Onchan, Director of TINT, also witnessed the ceremony. The event was held at Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao, Bangkok, on August 26, 2026.
The establishment of HOTNET marks an important step toward building a collaborative network for nuclear technology in Thailand. The Hub brings together knowledge and expertise in nuclear technology research and development with its network of partners to facilitate knowledge exchange, develop human resources, and support research and development in nuclear technology. The MOU also builds connections with international organizations and promotes knowledge, understanding, and public participation in nuclear technology through transparent and academically sound communication. This collaboration will enhance Thailand’s capabilities in nuclear technology development, enabling the country to keep pace with global technological advancements while contributing to the sustainable development of the economy, society, and country.
The International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO2026) awarding ceremony and the honorary trophy presentation for project supporters were also held during the event. Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, presented the award to Mr. Roothira Prasertsak, EGAT Assistant Director – Power Plant Engineering Division, who accepted it on behalf of EGAT.
EGAT has continuously supported the International Nuclear Science Olympiad for three consecutive years. TINT selected four talented students to participate in the project and organized a training camp to prepare them for the competition, INSO2026, held from August 2-9, 2026, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In this year’s competition, all four Thai representatives won medals: one Gold, one Silver, and two Bronze.
EGAT is committed to helping lay the foundation and develop a new generation of professionals with knowledge and expertise in nuclear technology to support its future development in Thailand. EGAT also actively drives the safe and responsible use of nuclear technology in the country.
