EGAT won five ASEAN Energy Awards 2026, reinforcing its leadership in the ASEAN energy sector, covering power system interconnection, clean energy innovation, and energy management, while aiming to sustainably drive regional energy collaboration toward the Net Zero goal.

On October 7, 2026, in Manila, the Philippines, Mr. Warit Rattanachuen, Deputy Governor – Strategy, as the representative of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), attended the 44th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and received the ASEAN Energy Awards 2026. These include three awards in the organizational category, one award in the individual category, and one award by supporting the Ministry of Energy.

The three awards in the organizational category include: 1. Green HydrogenProject by EGAT Learning Center – EGAT Headquarters, a prototype applying a hydrogen energy storage system combined with a solar power generation system and a battery energy storage system to supply clean energy to Energy Saving House via a microgrid connected to the main grid; 2. Ubol Ratana Dam 1 Floating Solar Project with a capacity of 24 MW combined with the existing 25.2 MW hydropower plant and a 6 MW battery energy storage system, with both projects winning under ASEAN Renewable Energy Project Awards Category; and 3. Foreign Agreement Management System – A Digital Settlement and Confirmation Platform for ASEAN Cross-Border Power Trade, a digital system supporting data management, transaction confirmation, and payment for cross-border power trade in ASEAN, which was recognized under ASEAN Excellence in Connectivity and Interconnection Project & Initiative Category.

Moreover, Lao PDR–Thailand–Malaysia–Singapore Power Integration Project (LTMS-PIP) has developed into a tangible cooperation framework for cross-border power trade among four ASEAN member countries. It is a practical prototype that paves the way toward achieving the ASEAN Power Grid vision. Through this project, EGAT has supported the Ministry of Energy in winning a national award under ASEAN Excellence in Connectivity and Interconnection Project & Initiative Category.

The achievement of winning five ASEAN Energy Awards 2026 reflects EGAT’s capabilities and determination in developing energy innovation and technology, in parallel with promoting ASEAN energy collaboration, including interconnected electricity system, renewable energy development, and efficient energy management. It is another important step in supporting regional energy security and driving Thailand toward Net Zero Emissions by 2050 sustainably.
