EGAT is beside Thais in every crisis

22 May 2020

During the ongoing pandemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) which has severely impacted the world, we have seen Thai people joining hands with hope and countries worldwide sharing their experiences to fight against the virus. Starting from ourselves, we can help mitigate the situation by practicing social distancing, wearing a mask, staying home and following medical advice, coupled with every organization doing their best to support the country during the COVID-19 crisis.

Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) realizes electric power is one of the essential factors in the crisis. EGAT then launches the ZERO COVID measure. The staff responsible for generating and supplying electricity need to strictly quarantine themselves in a safe zone to ensure power system stability to handle the crisis around the clock.

When it comes to the times of crisis, Thai people always unite to overcome problems. During the COVID-19 pandemic when health personnel and people are facing difficulties, EGAT supports the country with its best effort in various aspects, including providing financial supports to health personnel. EGAT engineers and technicians nationwide also got together to invent equipment for hospitals. For example, negative and positive pressure kiosks were invented for collecting swabs to reduce the risk of touching secretions, and after the end of COVID-19 pandemic they can be applied with patients with respiratory diseases. EGAT also produced hand sanitizer gel given to people for free and joined temples to give lunch boxes of rice with Thai-style omelet to the affected people. EGAT believes that if we help each other, we will get through this crisis together.

“EGAT is beside Thai people to get through this hard time together.”
