EGAT – Andritz to advance hydropower plants to increase O&M business opportunities in ASEAN

EGAT joins hands with Andritz to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance hydropower plants in Thailand with automation systems, aiming at increasing O&M business opportunities for hydropower plants in Thailand and abroad.

Mr. Nutthavutthi Chamchang, Deputy Governor – Power Business of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), and Dr. Harald Heber, Member of Executive Board of Andritz Hydro GmbH (AH), a hydroelectric manufacturer and supplier, signed an MOU to advance hydropower plants in Thailand with digital technologies, aiming at increasing O&M business opportunities for hydropower plants in Thailand and abroad. Mr. Cherdchai Saenseeha, EGAT Director of Business Management Division, and Mr. Alexander Schwab, Senior Vice President of Market Management, Business Development, and Corporate Communications of the AH, also signed the MOU as the witnesses. On this occasion, executives of both parties joined the online signing ceremony held on March 16, 2022.

EGAT Deputy Governor – Power Business revealed that this MOU signing marked a good opportunity for EGAT and AH to jointly elevate the standard of hydropower plants with automation systems to keep abreast of technology advances and respond to the global policy of renewable energy power plant promotion. The AH has potential in technologies and equipment of hydropower plants; while EGAT is expertise in power plant O&M. This cooperation will raise both parties’ business growths in Thailand and ASEAN in the upcoming era of renewable energy.

Dr. Harald Heber stated that previously, AH collaborated with EGAT to improve Srinagarind Dam and Bhumibol Dam Hydropower Plants, which is a great experience for the company. The AH expected that this MOU will achieve its goal and will be beneficial to both parties in hydropower plant development, contributing to generating income for Thailand and ASEAN in the future.
