EGAT inventors won four global awards at iENA 2024 in Germany
26 November 2024Two outstanding EGAT inventions won four awards at the International Trade Fair, Ideas, Inventions and New Products (iENA 2024) in Nuremberg, Germany: the Line Fault Locator and the Distribution and Transmission Suspension Insulator Test Set.

Mr. Tawatchai Sumranwanich, Deputy Governor – Strategy and Spokesman of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) revealed that EGAT submitted entries as well as showcased inventions and innovations at the International Trade Fair, Ideas, Inventions and New Products (iENA 2024) in Nuremberg, Germany held from October 26-28, 2024 in which EGAT won four awards for its two inventions as follows:

The Line Fault Locator which can be connected to transmission lines via Capacitive Voltage Transformer (CVT) without requiring a line trap won three awards: 1) Silver Medal, 2) Special Prize on Stage (Prominent Invention) from the Taiwan Creativity Development Association (TCDA) of Taiwan, and 3) Special Prize from the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) of South Korea. It is used for identifying fault locations to reduce maintenance time as well as rapidly restore the power system without affecting the transmission line damage protection system.

The Distribution and Transmission Suspension Insulator Test Set won the Special Award from the Indonesian Innovation and Invention Promotion Association (INNOPA). This suspension insulator test set was designed to cover testing for all models in the electricity distribution and transmission system, supporting EGAT’s role in providing insulator testing service for domestic private manufacturers. The test results can be used to request certification and product registration with the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) to ensure the distribution and usage of safe and quality equipment.

iENA 2024 is a competition and exhibition of inventions by inventors from around the world. Over 400 inventions of government and private sectors, universities, institutions, researchers, and freelance inventors from over 30 countries were submitted to the competition and showcased at the event.
