Three sport associations thank EGAT for continual support

         The Weightlifting Association, the Rowing & Canoeing Association, and the Petanque Association expressed their thanks to EGAT for continuously supporting Thai athletes. EGAT will provide more financial support of 128 million baht to enhance Thai athletes to international competition and promote the public’s well-being.

         On September 3, 2021, Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) signed the memorandum of understanding with Mr. Prachaya Keeratinun, President of the Thai Amateur Weightlifting Association (TAWA), Admiral Chainarong Charoenrat, President of the Rowing & Canoeing Association of Thailand (RCAT), and Mr. Kraisi Karnasuta, President of the Petanque Association of Thailand under the Patronage of H.R.H the Princess Mother (PNG) via online platform. The MOU aims to support the sport associations to look for potential athletes and develop their skills to join in global competitions.

         The President of TAWA said that TAWA would like to thank EGAT for supporting the association since 2004. By holding EGAT National Weightlifting Championship, EGAT helped search for new athletes to join the national team. Moreover, by providing financial support, EGAT has played an important role in developing the skills of Thai athletes.

         The President of RCAT said that EGAT and RCAT have jointly held King’s Cup Rowing and Canoeing Thailand Championships since 2012. EGAT has supported both of budget and reservoirs of EGAT dams to hold the races. RCAT would manage the budget financed by EGAT to develop skills of young and general athletes to international standards.

         The President of PNG expressed his thank to EGAT for continual support that has enhanced skills of petanque athletes until they could win medals and bring fame to the country. The budget received will be spent to promote the health of the public and petanque athletes’ skills.

         The Governor of EGAT said that EGAT gives an importance on improvement of quality of life, health, and athlete skills of the youth and sport associations along with the main mission of power generation and transmission to the public. During 2021-2024, EGAT will give financial support to the three associations, namely TAWA of 80 million baht, RCAT of 28 million baht, and PNG of 20 million baht. For many years, the athletes of these 3 associations stay dedicated to training and joining global competition that brings fame and pride to the country. EGAT is really proud to play a part in supporting the 3 associations continuously.
