EGAT brought out famous artists “Nack Charlie” and “Paradox” to encourage Thais to save energy through the song “Saving Season” which promotes the use of products that have the new Energy-Saving Label No.5 with Stars in order to save money, save the environment, and save energy.

On March 17, 2024, Mr. Prasert Sinsukprasert, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, presided over the “Saving Season” energy conservation campaign and was joined by Mr. Wattanapong Kurovat, Director General of the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency; Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT); Energy-Saving Label No.5 product companies; as well as famous celebrities and artists, namely “Nack” Charlie Trairat and the band “Paradox” at CentralWorld, Bangkok.

Mr. Prasert Sinsukprasert, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, said that the Ministry of Energy is responsible for meeting the energy demands of the country, promoting energy conservation and clean energy use, as well as leading Thailand toward Carbon Neutrality by 2050 through various policies. This summer, the Ministry of Energy has encouraged the public to conserve energy by using these five tips: 1) Turn off unnecessary lights, 2) Adjust the air conditioner to 26 degrees Celsius, 3) Remove unused plugs, 4) Change to new Energy-Saving Label No.5 products and LED lightbulbs, and 5) Plant trees at home. The Energy-Saving Label No.5 is a part of Demand Side Management (DSM) which EGAT has implemented and has led to energy efficiency in various sectors. Currently, the new Energy-Saving Label No.5 with Stars has increased in energy efficiency and environmental conservation to help save cost, transforming this hot season into a saving season that saves money, saves the environment, and saves energy for the country.

Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, EGAT Governor, revealed that Thailand has its peak demand every year during the summer; therefore, promoting energy conservation will benefit the people and the country. EGAT’s Energy-Saving Label No.5 has been a sign of energy conservation for over 30 years, and today, EGAT has improved the Label according to consumption trends and services for the new generation that prefers eco-friendly products and adjusted the label appearance for the digital technology era by 1) Increasing the maximum efficiency from three stars to five stars, 2) Adding carbon dioxide reduction data, 3) Using an eco-friendly manufacturing process, and 4) Adding a QR code on the Label so the consumers can access product information conveniently.

The new design of the Energy-Saving Label No.5 was promoted by using the famous song “Hot Season” by “Paradox” with the lyrics modified to turn it into a new song called “Saving Season” in order to create recognition. The use of the new Energy-Saving Label No.5 began on January 1, 2024 and there are currently 24 products that have passed the energy efficiency test and received the Label. In the future, the Label will also be placed on solar panels and inverters for solar panels.

Other energy conservation promotions include EGAT’s activity of presenting creative energy conservation ideas to win Label No.5 electrical appliances throughout April 2024. For more information, please visit EGAT’s Facebook page.

“Nack” Charlie Trairat added that as a presenter of this campaign and a person who likes to stay at home, all his electrical appliances must have Energy-Saving Label No.5 to conserve energy. He urged everyone to use electricity wisely by choosing products with the new Energy-Saving Label No.5 to help increase energy efficiency.

Meanwhile, “Paradox” explained that the Energy-Saving Label No.5 is not only used with electrical appliances, but also used with other products, such as brown rice, clothes, and curtains. They hope that all Thais will look for the new Energy-Saving Label No.5 with Stars first when buying products to help the country save energy and save their own money as well.
